Malaysia Decides to Impose Anti-Dumping Duty on Imported Galvanized Steel

According to an official document issued by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) of Malaysia, the Malaysian government has imposed final anti-dumping duties on galvanized steel coils and sheets originating from or exported by China, South Korea, and Vietnam.
This tariff applies to iron or non alloy steel sheets coated by hot-dip galvanizing process, usually traded in the form of galvanized steel coils and sheets. This type of product is widely used in the fields of construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
The Malaysian Harmonized Tariff Number and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Number (AHTN) of the products involved are 7210.49.1100, 7210.49.17 00, 7210.49.18 00, 7210.49.19 00, 7210.49.91 00, 7210.49.99 00, 7212.30.11 00, 7212.30.12 00, 7212.30.13 00, 7212.30.14 00, 7212.30.19 00, 7212.30.90 00, 7225.92.90 00, 7225.99.99 00, 7226.99.11 00, 7226.99.19 00, 7226.99.91 00, and 7226.99.99 00.
MITI concluded its investigation with the dumping margins ranging from 2.21% to 57.9%. The duties apply for a five-year period from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2030,Kallanish notes.
According to the final ruling, a tariff of 7.72% will be imposed on China Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel Joint Co., Ltd. Other Chinese exporters will face a tariff of 26.8%.
In South Korea, the tax rate for Pohang Iron and Steel is 2.21%, Hyundai Steel is 5.61%, KG Dongbu Steel is 13.82%, and the tax rate for other exporters is 31.47%.
On the Vietnamese side, China Steel and Nippon Steel Vietnam Joint Stock Company will face a tax rate of 4.76%, while Southern Steel Sheet will apply a tax rate of 9.91%. In addition, Tay Nam Steel Manufacturing&Trading and TVP Steel Joint Stock Company have a tax rate of 42.58%, while Tan Phuoc Khanh Trading and Manufacturing Coil Steel Joint Stock Company has a tax rate of 48.05%. Other exporters will bear the highest tax rate among the three countries, reaching 57.9%.
Another government bulletin confirmed that after Malaysia determined that the dumping margins of multiple companies were negligible (so low that no tariffs were imposed), these companies were exempted. Exempted manufacturers include China Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Beijing Shougang Cold Rolling Co., Ltd., Fujian Kaijing New Technology Materials Co., Ltd., and Vietnam Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Limited Liability Company、Hoa Sen Group、Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Company、Ton Dong A Corporation。
