What is a carbon steel pipe?

Carbon steel pipe and tube, also called CS pipe, is a type of steel pipe primarily made from carbon and iron, with small amounts of other alloying elements like manganese, silicon and phosphorus.

Types of Carbon Steel Pipes

Carbon steel pipes can be classified based on their manufacturing methods as follows:

Seamless Pipe: Made by extruding steel billets, stronger, used for high-pressure applications, also called smls pipe.

Welded Steel Pipe: ERW Steel Pipe and SSAW Steel Pipe are formed by welding steel strips, also called ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) straight seam welded pipe, SAW (submerged arc welding) spiral welded pipe. LSAW Steel Pipe is formed by rolling steel sheets and welding the seam, more economical, used in low-pressure systems.
