Some tips for storing galvanized steel products during the rainy season
In the summer, there is a lot of rain, and after the rain, the weather is hot and humid. In this state, the surface of galvanized steel products is easy to be alkalization (commonly known as white rust), and the interior (especially 1/2inch to 1-1/4inch galvanized pipes and galvanized square pipes) is prone to produce black spots due to covering the packaging and lack of ventilation.
1. Choose a covered storage area: Whenever possible, store the galvanized steel products in a covered area such as a warehouse or a covered outdoor space. This will protect them from direct exposure to rainwater.
2. Keep the products elevated: Ensure that the galvanized steel products are stored on pallets or raised platforms. This will prevent them from coming into direct contact with standing water in case of any leaks or floods.
3. Use tarps or covers: If a covered storage area is not available, use waterproof tarps or covers to shield the steel products from rainwater. Make sure to secure the covers tightly to prevent water from seeping in.
4. Apply a protective coating: Before storing the galvanized steel products, consider applying a suitable protective coating. This can provide an additional layer of protection against moisture and corrosion.
5. Maintain proper ventilation: Ensure that the storage area has adequate ventilation to prevent the accumulation of moisture. Good airflow will help to keep the steel products dry and reduce the risk of corrosion.
6. Inspect regularly: Regularly inspect the stored galvanized steel products during the rainy season to ensure there are no signs of water damage or corrosion. If any issues are discovered, address them promptly to prevent further deterioration.
